Desde hace diez años, la Revista Universidad de Guadalajara se ha caracterizado por proponer una doble lectura en sus páginas: la de los textos y la visual, con fotografías independientes a éstos en cuanto a su temática. Esta idea surgió al advertir que en nuestra ciudad no existe ninguna revista que divulgue el quehacer fotográfico; además, es tradicional que la plástica sea la encargada de ilustrar las revistas literarias o académicas. La inclusión de fotografías ha permitido difundir la obra de profesionales del fotoperiodismo, el retrato, la moda, la publicidad y el desnudo, y también de jóvenes universitarios que han adoptado la escritura con luz como una manera de describir su mundo. En este número la imagen fotográfica ha invadido las páginas y ha dejado a la palabra escrita un espacio reducido.

Las más de cien fotografías presentadas son obra de treinta y un artistas de la plata y gelatina, hoy convertida en millones de ceros y unos digitales, de los cuales involuntariamente sólo seis son mujeres que abren y cierran las dos secciones, de blanco y negro y de color. El material es sólo una muestra de la obra de gran calidad de cada fotógrafo; varias de ellas ya han sido exhibidas en galerías y en las páginas de la Revista, pero otras son creaciones nuevas. Todas fueron proporcionadas por los autores desde el año 2000 para ser publicadas en forma de libro; desafortunadamente, este proyecto no pudo concretarse, aparte de que varios fotógrafos no entregaron su material.

En esta ocasión, también La Colección de Babel, separata de la Revista, está dedicada a estos artistas de la lente. Así: en estas páginas ofrecemos la obra fotográfica, y en el cuadernillo la voz de sus creadores.

For ten years, Revista Universidad de Guadalajara has focused in a double lecture of its pages: its texts and another one visual, made up of independent pictures in regards to the written themes. This idea was strengthen when we noticed that our city had no magazines that would disclose photographic work; bedsides it is traditional that aesthetics is responsible of illustrating the academic or literary reviews.

The inclusion of photographs has allowed us to present the work of professionals in photojournalism, portrait, fashion, publicity and nude; including university students that have described the world by using light as their writing. This issue, the photographic pictures have surrounded the pages leaving but a reduced space to written work.

The work of thirty one artists that print on silver and jelly is presented in over one hundred pictures; nowadays converted in digital millions of zeros and ones of which involuntarily only six are women who open and close our two sections (white and black and colour). This material is a sample of the quality work of each artist. Several of these photos have been exhibited in galleries and previous issues of this magazine, but others are new creations. Since the year 2000 we received from the authors the photographs with the purpose of publishing them in the format of a book, unfortunately this project has not been able to take shape, aside that several of the photographers did not send their material.

This time La Colección de Babel, reprint of the Revista is also committed to these artists of the lens. Therefore we offer in these pages the photographic work and in the excerpt the voice of its creators.
